During his speech, Oleksandr Turchynov stressed that on the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repression victims of totalitarism, the aim of which was to “make people be afraid and obey”, are remembered.

Having asked what the difference between Bykivnia and Auschwitz or Buchenwald is, Oleksandr Turchynov claimed that “communist regime is a twin of a fascist regime”. He noted that “all totalitarian regimes are the same, however, fascism was condemned by the humanity, and the communist regime is still extrajudicial, and crimes of totalitarism still sprout out dangerously”.

“There are always people wanting to be a dictator”, claimed the Chairman of the Parliament. “These sprouts of totalitarism exist in the consciousness of leadership of the Russian Federation who are fighting for restoring new post-Soviet empire”.

“Ukraine which has lost its citizens will never be a part of such empire. That is why all threats, aggression and provocations that are being carried out against us are doomed, since we are worthy of the memory of those people who gave their lives so that a dictator would never reign in Ukraine”, he claimed.

Moreover, Oleksandr Turchynov claimed that “a tumour of totalitarism will be provoking a dangerous disease until we condemn the communist regime and those political forces that are feeding on blood, including the blood of Bykivnia forest, those who are fighting against their own country and their own people”.

In this context, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada informed that today he “signed an official letter to the Ministry of Justice where it is suggested to immediately consider all materials provided by the Security Service of Ukraine and the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine regarding illegal anti-constitutional activity of the Communist Party of Ukraine”.

Oleksandr Turchynov expressed his belief that the court “put an end to this”.
