Committee on Construction, Urban Development, Housing and Communal Services and Regional Policy recommends that the Verkhovna Rada adopt as a basis the draft law on amendments to the Law “On regulating urban planning activity” (re improvement of the institution of public hearings)

It was mentioned at the Committee’s meeting that the bill (Reg. No. 4448) is aimed at decreasing tension in the society regarding certain objects of urban planning, and returning to the practice of holding public hearings, which existed until 2011.

The bill suggests supplement the Law “On regulating urban planning activity” with new terms “public discussion”, “public hearings”, and “conciliatory commission”.

The Committee’s members upheld the bill, adoption of which will allow strengthen participation of the public in local self-government, granting it the possibility to control the building process at the local level, and to make decisions on building important or dangerous objects.
