The Parties discussed current developments in Ukraine
and the issues connected with Russia’s
aggression against our country, particularly, the referendum held in the
eastern Ukraine.
“At present Russia actually fights an undeclared war against our country and tries to split it. In this complicated period we need the support of the entire democratic world, especially in view of the threat to the whole system of international security,” said Hryhorii Nemyria.
Fabrizio Cicchitto stressed that “Italy supports territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine and does not recognize results of referendums in Crimea and eastern Ukraine. Ukraine is Europe. We associate ourselves with the people of Ukraine.”
It went about cooperation between Ukraine and Italy at the parliamentary level.
In this connection Hryhorii Nemyria informed that the Verkhovna Rada today has adopted a range of laws necessary for completing the first stage of visa liberalization plan with the EU.
“Today we have actually moved to the second phase of liberalization plan,” he said.
Deputy Chairman of the Democratic Party of Italy Vincenzo Amendola, Chairman of the Committee for Human Rights of the Italian Chamber of Deputies Mario Marazziti, Italian Ambassador to Ukraine Fabrizzio Romano and some others also participated in the meeting.
