In the course of the meeting, held on May 10, Volodymyr Lytvyn briefed
on the situation in the defense and security sector, particularly, on the
counterterrorist operation carried out in the East of Ukraine. The Committee
Chair informed about the decisions of the Verkhovna Rada aimed at stopping
escalation of tension in Ukraine. The Parties exchanged ideas on the role of the European Union and its efforts in providing assistance and support in order to establish international dialogue regarding Ukraine.
Petras Austrevicius informed about the Resolution on signing, ratification and implementation of the agreements with the EU, including its parts on the deepened trade with Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine, that was adopted on May 8 by the Seimas of the Lithuanian Republic.
