In response to the address of chairmen of leading Ukrainian TV channels, Acting President of Ukraine, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov has entrusted the Security Service of Ukraine to guard journalists that highlight Counterterrorist operation.
The respective instruction was posted on the official website of the Acting President of Ukraine.
“The Security Service of Ukraine shall carry out, within the area of counterterrorist operations in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, effective activities to ensure safety and health of
journalists, cameramen and other employees of mass media that are
registered as mass media representatives in the order established by the
legislation,” the instruction reads.
Apart form this, Oleksandr Turchynov has entrusted the Internal Affairs Ministry jointly with the State Committee for Television and radio Broadcasting with participation of the National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council of Ukraine to take measures “to secure smooth broadcasting” of Ukrainian TV channels and ensure “protection of objects of television and radio transmitting landline network” in the east and south of Ukraine.
