Oleksandr Turchynov: We want to have transparent and predictable economy that would be understandable and interesting to investors

Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Acting President of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov met with the U.S. Congress Delegation headed by Ed Royce, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the House of Representatives of the United States Congress. 

In the course of the meeting, the Parties discussed current developments in Ukraine and cooperation between our countries.

According to Oleksandr Turchynov, contrary to Geneva agreements, there were specially prepared terrorist groups and raiding forces, coordinated by Russia. They continue making attempts aimed at destabilizing situation in the Eastern Ukraine. 

“Military aggression against our country is a challenge not only to our country – it is a challenge to Europe and the entire civilized world,” said Oleksandr Turchynov, having expressed hope that strategic partners will not leave Ukraine alone with the aggressor.

“We believe that there is a possibility to stop aggression and secure European democratic movement and development of our country,” he said.

Apart form this, the Parties discussed key directions for reforms and perspective investment projects that can be implemented in Ukraine.  

He stressed that the new authority moves towards deregulation of economy.

Administrative pressure established preconditions for corruption. We follow both the path of deregulation of economy and carrying out of tax reform,” said Oleksandr Turchynov, having explained that it goes about simplifying taxation system and reducing the number of taxes.   

“We want to have transparent and predictable economy that would be understandable and interesting to investors,” he summed.

In their turn, congressmen supported the moves new Ukrainian authority takes in order to develop country and strengthen relations between our countries.
