The Committee on Science and Education considered the draft law on amendments to several legislative acts of Ukraine (re improvement of separate provisions of social policy)

The bill (Reg. No. 4648) suggests amend several laws, particularly, “On Education”, “On out-of-school education”, “On General Secondary Education”, “On Higher Education”, “On scientific and scientific-technical activities”.

Chairpersons of trade unions, representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Social Policy participated in the discussion.

Deputy Minister of Finance V.Matviichuk presented reasoning of the bill’s provisions elaborated in order to save the state’s funds. 

Committee’s Chair Lilia Hrynevych claimed all participants of the meeting are aware of the country’s crisis and of the necessity to save state finances, and suggested find a compromise decision with the Government.  

Following the results of the discussion, the Committee adopted the decision to exclude amendments to clause 4 of article 36 of the Law “On Education”, amendments to laws “On General Secondary Education” (article 25), and “On the out-of-school education” (article 22).

Considering inflationary developments in Ukraine, the Committee claims it is possible to uphold amendments to laws “On Education” (clause 5 of article 61) and “On Higher Education” (clause 6 of article 64).
