The Verkhovna Rada adopted as a basis the draft law on parliamentary opposition

 The bill (Reg. No. 4494) suggests determine principles and guarantees for performing oppositional activity, as one of the fundamentals of democracy that is of representative and pluralistic nature and provides for accountability and controllability of bodies of state authority and their officials before voters in the manner that is not determined by other Laws of Ukraine.

Under the bill, oppositional activity aims at securing participation of parliamentary opposition in the development of sovereign, independent, democratic, social and legal state in Ukraine.

The Constitution of Ukraine; this and other laws of Ukraine; the international treaties, obligatoriness of which was granted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine; and the Rules of Procedure of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine make up the legal basis of oppositional activity.  

The draft document determines also principles of oppositional activity.
