Due to measures taken by the government, all hostages in Crimea were released, every Ukrainian officer and soldier will be protected. This was announced by acting President of Ukraine, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov at the briefing on Wednesday.
Oleksandr Turchynov informed that due to measures taken by the government of Ukraine, deputy commander of the Navy of Ukraine major-general Ihor Voronchenko, colonel Yulii Mamchur, battalion commander of marine corps lieutenant-colonel Dmytro Deliatytskyi and his deputy – major Rostyslav Lomtiev, who were illegally captured “during last combat assaults and provocations that were conducted against Ukrainian military men”, are being released now.
“Due to these measures, they are being released now. I hope that tomorrow we will be able to see them in Kyiv”, said Oleksandr Turchynov.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada claimed all officers who “behaved courageously will be awarded and promoted.” “We will not leave any officer or any soldier unprotected. They all, with us, will be protecting Ukraine and I sincerely thank all those who have not broken and keep honourably fulfilling their constitutional duties”, said Oleksandr Turchynov.
