Today we need to hold out, preserve coordination of military units and prevent invasion of the Russian forces into the depth of Ukraine. This was announced by acting President of Ukraine, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov during the briefing on Friday when addressing Ukrainian military men dislocated in the Crimea.

“As to the Ukrainian military men – we know how difficult and dangerous their service is. The situation gets complicated by a constant psychological pressure, intimidation and disinformation on the part of the Russian military”, said Oleksandr Turchynov, adding that a very high percent of the military is composed of contract soldiers living on territory of the Crimea with their families.

Moreover, Oleksandr Turchynov claimed the Ministry of Defence and the General Staff have one clear task – to defend our ships and military units from attackers. “When our military men act according to the Constitution and military charters, all provocations fail”, he claimed.

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada stated that the government is doing everything for material and technical support of military units.

“We understand the danger families of the military face. Ukraine is ready to shelter them – we are now preparing health resorts, recreation and recovery centres. Regardless of a difficult economic situation, we will do everything to help military men and their families by granting them a status of a combatant and other social privileges”, said Oleksandr Turchynov.

“We understand how hard it is now for the military. But we have to hold out and win”, he claimed.
