Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Turchynov met with Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway Borge Brende and Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Finland Erkki Tuomioja.
According to Oleksandr Turchynov, the Government has elaborated a new programme for stabilization of economic situation in Ukraine. “We have renewed cooperation with the IMF and hope for support of the whole international community,” he said, adding that military aggression of the Russian Federation is in path of stabilization of situation in the country.
“Russia has brought its troops into the territory of Ukraine having no grounds,” noted the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada. He stressed that authority protects all people residing in our country, irrespective of language they speak, religion they practice and their nationality.
He informed that the government has addressed international institutions with a request to send their observers “however, Russian military behave quite aggressively. There were attempts to block representatives of the OSCE and the UN.”
Thereat, Oleksandr Turchynov expressed conviction that with the help of its strategic partners, Ukraine will be able to find political decision in order to settle the complicated situation in Crimea and stop military aggression.
He stressed also that no aggressive actions “can stop the course to European
integration and stabilization of situation in the country.” “Ukraine is an
open country and we want to develop democratic exemplar relations between the
citizens, religious organizations, civil society and the authority,” summed
Oleksandr Turchynov. On their part, Ministers of Internal Affairs of Norway and Finland reassured the Chairman that the EU will do everything possible “in order to find solution to the problematic situation in Crimea in the political dimension.”
“We have clearly stated our opposition to any violence,” noted Borge Brende, adding that Europe carefully and with great support watches all the attempts the new authority takes in order to stabilize economic and political situation in Ukraine. “Opposition should end with total renewal of Ukraine’s territorial integrity,” stressed Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway.
Apart from this, ministers of leading European countries assured that Europe is ready to provide any possible support in the issue of reforming Ukraine. “We came to provide political support and show solidarity with Ukrainian leadership. Ukraine can rely on our all-round support,” said Erkki Tuomioja.
