During the meeting, the Parties discussed current situation in Ukraine, paying particular attention to the developments in Crimea.
According to Oleksandr Turchynov, the priority for the new government is to recover Ukraine’s economy. “We have inherited almost completely destroyed economy, so our main task is to recover the whole economic system of our country.”
The Chairman of the Parliament stressed that actions of the Russian Federation on bringing armed forces to Crimea is “nothing else but aggressive actions against a sovereign state.”
Moreover, he expressed confidence that strategic partners of Ukraine and guarantor-states of its security and national integrity, according to Budapest Memorandum, “will do everything possible to help Ukraine protect its territorial integrity.”
In his turn, John Kerry highly estimated actions of the new government on stabilization of situation in the country, its moderation, as well as professionalism of military men of our country.
“I was extremely impressed with what I saw in Kyiv. It does not take much time to understand how sincere people were in their fight for freedom,” he said. “I want you to know that we take very seriously our commitments to Ukraine that we assumed in 1994 by being a guarantor of sovereignty and territorial integrity of your country,” stressed John Kerry.
