On Tuesday Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Turchynov met with the United States Deputy Secretary of State William Burns.
The Parties discussed present situation in Ukraine during the meeting.
According to Oleksandr Turchynov, current priority for the Parliament, which “is actually the only legitimate authority in the country,” is restoration of executive power in the centre, as well as locally.
“In fact, all the power is concentrated here, in the Parliament, however, it can not directly manage the activity of executive power,” said Oleksandr Turchynov, adding that on Thursday the Verkhovna Rada is going to vote for the Government of national confidence.
The Chairman of the Parliament also expressed his belief that the new Government will renew the course on European integration “which was blocked by the previous government,” and cooperation with the International Monetary Fund.
“We are going to implement deep reforms of economic, administrative structures, as well as law-enforcement agencies, and to restore jurisdiction which had been practically destroyed,” he said.
In his turn, William Burns sent greetings to the Ukrainian people from President of the USA Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, and Secretary of State John Kerry.
“We admire Ukrainian people. We understand in what circumstances you country is now. We hope that new Government will immediately renew cooperation with the IMF. We will do everything possible to promote this,” said William Burns.
