“Today a shameful end has come to the government that turned itself into a regime,” said Oleksandr Turchynov, and informed that the Parliament has adopted a resolution to dismiss the President of Ukraine from performing his duties, and has appointed presidential elections for May 25, 2014. “It is necessary to restore a vertical power system of governance. Our task as of today is to restore credibility of the Ministry of Internal Affairs,” he claimed.

Apart from this, the Chairman of the Parliament informed that the new majority, including opponents of the opposition, will form a new coalition Government – the Government of national confidence. “Now we need to forget about confrontation for saving the country,” said Oleksandr Turchynov. “We appoint Arsen Avakov as acting Minister of Internal Affairs until a new coalition Government is formed.”

The Chairman of Verkhovna Rada did not exclude that A.Avakov will further perform duties of the Minister of Internal Affairs. “I ask you to take all his orders with responsibility and show initiative based on your civil stand,” stressed the Chairman of the Parliament, adding that, unfortunately, for the last four years the Ministry of Internal Affairs has been fulfilling functions of political pressure on the government’s opponents, which contradicted the law and morality.

“Our task is to never do political put-up jobs. Blood and guillotinization of the government stand behind them,” said Oleksandr Turchynov.
