On Sunday Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the USA to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt.

During the meeting, the Parties discussed the issue of restoring legitimate government in Ukraine. “Formally, according to the Constitution of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada has conferred powers of the Head of State to fulfill some of his functions on me,” said the Speaker.

Moreover, Oleksandr Turchynov stressed that the main issue as of now is to form a new parliamentary majority in order to immediately validate the Government of national confidence.

“I hope that the Maidan will support this new Government,” he said, adding that this is extremely important under the circumstances of economic collapse the government of V.Yanukovych has left.

In his turn, Geoffrey Pyatt expressed a strong commitment to development of cooperation between the USA, Ukraine and its people.

“We compassionate to the people of Ukraine and understand that the revolution has a lot of martyrs. The best way to commemorate them is to ensure a consolidation of democratic powers for forming a new Government,” claimed Mr. Ambassador. “I have one more message from the US Congress – I send support to the Ukrainian people from the American nation. We support you,” added Geoffrey Pyatt.
