During the Committee meeting on February 5, 2014, it was mentioned that the bill (Reg. No. 2180a) is aimed at perpetuating memory about the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 by preserving names of streets, alleys, prospects, squares, parks, garden squares, bridges and other buildings named after military men who accomplished heroic feats, the Red Army soldiers, partisans, undergrounders, combat formations of the Red Army and other events connected with the Great Patriotic War.

It is suggested to supplement article 2 of the Law “On Perpetuation of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945” with a new norm on perpetuation of Victory and feat of the winner nation.

The Committee also suggests supplement clause one of article 37 of the Law “On Local Self-Government in Ukraine.”
