The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the Law “On amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On eliminating negative consequences, preventing prosecution and punishing people in connection with events taking place during peaceful assemblies”

The Law stipulates: free from responsibility, in a manner and in terms defined by this law, persons who are suspects or accused (defendants) of committing crimes during the period of November 21 – January 26, 2013 including crimes stipulated by articles 109, 122, 161, 171, 185, 194, 259, 279, 289, 293, 294, 295, 296, 341, 342, 343, 345, 348, 349, 365, 376, 382, 386 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, provided that these crimes are connected with mass protest actions that started on November 21, 2013, and close respective criminal proceedings;        

free persons convicted of committing crimes stipulated by article 1 of this Law from punishment in a form of imprisonment for a certain period of time and from other punishments not connected with imprisonment in a manner and in terms defined by this Law;    

close criminal proceedings that were opened in connection with crimes stipulated by article 1 of this Law and in which no persons were informed about the suspicion.  

Respective bill was registered under No. 3893.
