The Committee on Freedom of Speech and Information recommends that the Parliament should adopt in the second hearing and in entirety the bill on amendments to the Law ‘On Advertising’ (re bringing it in line with the European Convention on Transfrontier Television)

The bill (Reg. No. 0940) suggests supplement the existing law by defining the term ‘TV-sale’, specifying general requirements to the advertising, sponsorship of TV- and radio programmes where names of medicine, medical equipment, methods of prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation are mentioned, as well as to prohibit TV-sale of the abovementioned goods and services.     

The participants of the meeting also claimed that the bill includes respective requirements of the European Convention on transfrontier television and Audiovisual Media Services Directives.  

During the Committee meeting proposals of the people’s deputies were considered and, in general, upheld.
