The Organized Crime Control and Anti-Corruption Committee recommends that the Parliament should adopt as a basis and in entirety the draft law on amendments to several legislative acts (re strengthening efficiency of state anti-corruption policy)

As the Chairman of the Committee Viktor Chumak stressed, the bill (Reg. No. 3522) was elaborated aiming to fulfill the Action Plan for liberalization of visa regime for Ukraine concerning improvement of anti-corruption legislation provisions, exercising financial control, protection of people reporting about corruption offences and enhancing transparency of national enterprises procurement.  

Particularly, the documents suggest establish harsher punishment for corruption offences for natural persons, and introduce rules according to which, amount of fine for legal persons shall be inflicted within the limits established by law, but shall not be less that the amount of improper advantage.  

The draft law stipulates amendments to the Criminal Code to fulfill the recommendation of GRECO.

During the discussion, it was stressed that the Committee’s decision was aimed at ensuring signing of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement on November 28-29, 2013.
