Legislative experience of the Republic of Poland is of extreme importance for the Ukrainian Parliament. The Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Koshulynskyi stressed this during the organizational meeting of the Ukrainian part of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Ukraine and the Republic of Poland on Thursday.  

The issues of preparation and holding of the VII Session of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Ukraine and the Republic of Poland and assignment of the people’s deputies of Ukraine to working commissions of the Assembly were discussed.   

The VII Session of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Ukraine and the Republic of Poland is scheduled for November 4-5, this year in Kyiv on the eve of the Vilnius Eastern Partnership Summit.

According to the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the issues of trans-border cooperation, European integration, and reformation of local self-government will be discussed during the meetings of working commissions.

“The draft laws on attraction of investments into mountainous regions that border Poland; as well as unification of all Transcarpathian countries for receiving subventions from the EU on the development of depressive regions; and the issue of trans-border cooperation will be discussed during the meetings of commissions,” said R.Koshulynskyi.

R.Koshulynskyi informed that exchange of experience with Polish MPs in the sphere of legislative work will be one of the important directions of session’s activity. “Poland has the best experience in Europe in the social sphere; organization of activity of local self-government and its reformation; organization of the work of employment services and the sphere of control over the adherence to labour conditions,” he stressed.

Commenting on the issue of trans-border cooperation between Ukraine and Poland, R.Koshulynskyi named establishment of the Single checkpoint with joint control on the part of Ukraine and Poland to be an important project. According to him, this will allow save time of both Ukrainian and Polish citizens. In order to implement this task, it is only left to build 4 km of road in line with the European standards, he noted. 

Participants of the meeting discussed also the draft Joint Statement that shall be considered during the VII Assembly Session.
