The Committee on Judicial Policy recognized the draft law on amendments to several legislative acts of Ukraine re bringing the court system of Ukraine in line with the European standards, securing constitutional status of the Supreme Court of Ukraine as the highest judicial body and unconditional implementation of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights as non-contradicting to the Constitution of Ukraine

The bill (Reg. No. 2269) aims at renewing constitutional status of the Supreme Court of Ukraine as the highest judicial body in the system of courts of general jurisdiction that was restricted by the Law “On the Court System and the Status of Judges”. In view of reaching the abovementioned aim, the bill suggests make respective amendments to the Law “On the Court System and the Status of Judges”, the Civil Procedure Code, the Economic Procedure Code, the Code of Administrative Proceedings of Ukraine, the Criminal Procedure Code, the Code on Administrative Proceedings, and the Law “On Execution of Judgments and Implementation of Practice of the European Court of Human Rights”.
