The Committee on Environmental Policy, Use of Natural Resources and Chornobyl Aftermath Mitigation recommends that the Parliament should adopt as a basis the draft law on amendments to several legislative acts of Ukraine (re fighting poaching)

The bill (Reg. No. 2521a) suggests amend laws ‘On the Red Book of Ukraine”, “On Fauna”, “On hunting economy and shooting”, “On the protection of animals from cruelty”, “On Environmental Protection”, “On  Flora”, “On the Nature Reserve Fund of Ukraine”. Amendments will also be made to the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Infringements.

According to the Committee members, implementation of the bill provisions will promote harmonization of the Ukrainian legislation with the international documents aiming at animal protection, strengthening the protection of animal and plant species included in the Red Book of Ukraine, improving protection of natural reserve fund territories and sites, reinforcement of fighting poaching.
