The Committee on Legislative Support of Law Enforcement to consider more than 180 bills during the third session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the seventh convocation

In particular, the Committee will be preparing the bills on prosecutor’s office (Reg. No. 0886) and on amendments to the Criminal Executive Code re procedure and terms of the service of sentence (Reg. No. 1131) for consideration in the second reading.  

Members of the Committee deem the adoption of these documents will lay the legal basis for further reforming of criminal justice and bring the activity of law enforcements bodies of Ukraine in line with the European standards, become one more step on the way to signing the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement.  

The bill on amendments to several legislative acts re increasing responsibility for driving a vehicle while intoxicated (Reg. No. 0890) will be prepared for the second reading.  

The Committee prepares the draft law on amendments to several legislative acts of Ukraine re parking of transport vehicles and establishment of responsibility for violation of parking rules of transport vehicles (Reg. No. 2499) that, particularly, suggests amendments regarding determining bodies authorized to try a case on administrative infringements in case the requirements re placement, equipment, and functioning of parking areas for transport vehicles.

The bill on the State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine (Reg. No. 3042) which is consistent with the resolution of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe No. 1549 (2007) “Functioning of democratic institutions in Ukraine” and contains legal provisions re legal status and procedure of organization of bureau’s activity will be considered in the first reading.  The bill suggests determining the State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine as the state law enforcement body and authorizing it:

to protect the individual, society and state from criminal infringements;

to provide prompt, full and unbiased pre-trial investigation;

to participate in realization of state criminal policy, etc.

The Committee also plans to consider the bill on amendment to the Law “On Militia” (re social protection of the militia personnel) (Reg. No. 3091).

The Committee also plans a range of parliamentary and committee hearings, round table discussion and conferences.
