The Committee on Fuel and Energy Complex, Nuclear Policy and Nuclear Safety held 7 meetings during the second session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the seventh convocation and scrutinized more than 70 issues

Among the legislative documents elaborated by the Committee, the Verkhovna Rada adopted in the entirety the Law “On amendments to several legislative acts of Ukraine re ensuring stable operation of strategic enterprises of the energy sector” (No. 238-VII as of 05/15/2013) that prolongs the procedure of repayments of debts of enterprises of fuel and energy complex, determined by the Law “On measures aimed at ensuring stable operation of fuel and energy complex, till 1 January 2014.
The Committee also organized and held a range of events, among them: the committee hearings, conferences, seminars, round table discussions, etc. Particularly, on May 15, the Committee held hearings entitled: “Extraction of shale gas in Ukraine: prospects and challenges.” Following the discussion, participants noted that Ukraine has the potential to provide energy independence.
On July 4, in Vienna (Austria) members of the Committee together with the representatives of other countries – members of Energy Community (regional union of the countries of South East Europe created for social-economic stability and security of supply among the EU countries-members) discussed an issue of harmonization of legal basis of Energy Community country-members and the EU rules of procedure in gas and oil industry, energy and alternative energy, energy efficiency, etc.
On April 25, the Committee held seminar entitled “Problems of registration of land use under electric power facilities. Practical aspects of legislation application,” where an issue of registration of land use under electric power facilities were discussed.
On June 3, with the support of the Committee the round table discussion entitled “Ways of effective usage of transportation system in Ukraine, reverse, transit, creating Eastern European gas hub” was held.
