The Committee on European Integration considered a range of bills on correspondence of Ukraine’s obligations within membership in the Council of Europe and the WTO

 The Committee members upheld the bill on amendments to the Tax Code of Ukraine (re rate increase of excise on beer) (Reg. No. 2876).

Also the bill on amendments to the Law “On state regulation of production and turnover of alcohol ethyl, cognac and fruit, alcoholic beverages and tobacco products” (re promoting healthy lifestyles among adolescents and young people) was upheld.

The Committee also upheld the draft law on amendments to the Civil Code of Ukraine re excluding the concept of negative information (Reg. No. 1257). The bill (No. 1257) suggests excluding part three form article 277 of the Civil Code, under which, negative information disseminated about a person is deemed to be unreliable, unless a person who spread it has proven the opposite (“presumption of honesty”).

The Committee did not uphold the draft law on amendments to the Customs Tariff (re import duty on books) and the draft law on amendments to article 282 of the Customs Code of Ukraine (re import duty on books) (Reg. No. 2980).

It was decided also that the Committee will become a beneficiary of projects implemented by the Social Network OPORA in the sphere of European integration.
