The Committee on Judicial Policy recognized the draft law on prevention and counteraction to domestic violence as non-contradicting to the provisions of the Constitution of Ukraine

The bill (Reg.No. 2539) aimed at improvements of current legislation of Ukraine regarding the issues of prevention of domestic violence.

In particular, it suggests determining legal and organizational basis for prevention and counteraction to domestic violence, system and authorities of bodies and institutions empowered to implement social and specialized measures to prevent and counteract domestic violence. In addition, the bill presupposes amendments to article 173-2 of the Code of Ukraine of Administrative Infringements.

The Committee agrees with the remarks of the Main Scientific Experts Office of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariat re necessity to bring provisions of the bill in line with the current legislation of Ukraine.
