The draft law (Reg. No. 2342) stipulates amendments to the provisions of the Labour Code, the Criminal Code, the Civil and Procedure Code, the laws "On the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights", “On Principles of Prevention and Counteraction of Discrimination in Ukraine” in order to refine organizational and legal mechanisms of prevention and counteraction discrimination.

Committee members noted that the necessity to adopt the bill is predetermined by the EU-Ukraine Action Plan on visa liberalization. In particular, the bill is among the last ones that require adoption by the Verkhovna Rada in order for Ukraine to move to another – implementation phase of the abovementioned Action Plan.

It was noted that changes suggested in the bill fully correspond to international and legal commitments and the law of the European Union, particularly, the EU Directive 2000/78.
