The Committee on Science and Education recommends that the Parliament should adopt as a basis the draft law on higher education

The Committee recommends that the Verkhovna Rada should adopt as a basis the draft law on higher education registered under No. 1187-2 and reject the bills on higher education registered under No. 1187-1and No. 1187.   

Particularly, a new version of the Law “On Higher Education” (Reg. No. 1187-2) determines: principles and ways of implementation of state policy in the sphere of higher education; levels and degrees of higher education; management bodies in the sphere of higher education, as well as their authorities; standards of educational activity and higher education; licensing procedure of higher educational establishments and accreditation of specialities; principles of creation of a Single state electronic basis on matters of education. It determines financial and economic relations in the sphere of higher education and settles the issue of international cooperation and control in this sphere, etc.        

It was noted that the bill No. 1187-2 was elaborated in cooperation with government, authorities of higher educational establishments, educators and employers. It meets the requirements of economy, society and government.

Attention was attached to the fact that a working group on refinement of the bill No. 1187-2 will be established on the basis of the Committee.
