The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the Resolution “On establishment of a Temporary Inquiry Commission of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on investigating facts of attack against mass media representatives on May 18, 2013 in Kyiv at the address 15 Volodymyrska st., and investigating other facts of pressure on mass media, as well as preventing its legal professional journalists’ activity”

Under the resolution, the Commission has to “investigate the circumstances:

of prevention implementation of the right of citizens to hold meetings during the campaign "Arise, Ukraine" in Kyiv on May 18, 2013;

of inflicting bodily harm on the citizens of Ukraine;

of interference with journalistic activities and inflicting bodily harm on them;

of unlawful inaction of law enforcement bodies”.

Vitaliy Yarema (deputy faction of the All-Ukrainian Union “Batkivshchyna”) was elected the chairman of the Commission and Andriy Puinchuk (deputy faction of the PARTY OF REGIONS) – its deputy chairman.

The respective bill was registered under No. 2090a.
