The Committee on Environmental Policy, Use of Natural Resources and Chornobyl Aftermath Mitigation took into account information of the Counting Chamber on the results of the audit for effectiveness of state budget fund use, allocated for anti-flood measures in the Danube Basin and for disaster recovery on the territory of Reniysk district of Odesa oblast in 2012

It was noted that during the year 2012 measures aimed at protecting rural communities and agricultural land plots, particularly in the lower reaches of the Danube River on the territory of Odesa oblast, were carried out within the Comprehensive program for protection of rural communities and agricultural land plots from harmful effects of water for the period up till 2010 and prognosis up till 2020.    

In general, due to inadequate funding of the Program’s measures, 46 populated areas with the population of almost 150 thousands of people, 120 industrial facilities, 160 hectares of agricultural land, and international railway (20 km Reni-Galati) are at risk of flooding.   

Following the results of discussion, the Committee gave recommendations to the Cabinet of Ministers. Particularly:

ensure adherence to monthly estimates of appropriations;

provide fro proper inter-departmental and regional coordination while implementing Program’s measures ,etc.
