The bill (Reg. No.7160) implements the agreements in the framework
of the Memorandum of
Mutual Understanding
between the Ministry of Ukraine of Emergency Situations and Protection of Population from the
Consequences of Chornobyl Disaster and the Ministry of Energetic and Climate Changes of the United Kingdom of Great
Britain and Northern Ireland on cooperation in the sphere of radiation
security, physical protection and non-proliferation of nuclear materials (Memorandum), and Agreement between the
Ministry of Ukraine of Emergency
Situations and Protection of Population from the Consequences of
Chornobyl Disaster and French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission
on technical assistance to enhance processing of disused radioactive sources
and high active waste in Ukraine (Agreement).
The bill amends clause 19 of the Law "On Single Customs Tariff" and clause 5 of the Law "On Value-Added Tax", and exempts material values imported in the territory of Ukraine from import duty and value-added tax.
The Committee decided to direct the bill to the Committee on Taxation and Customs Policy with a request to facilitate its submittal for the parliamentary scrutiny in view of its importance for the successful implementation of the projects oo international technical assistance in the exclusion zone and on the industrial premises of Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant.
