Mykola Tomenko: The Third Place of the Party of Regions in Cherkasy means that this Power is Alien for the Local Residents
Asked by UNIAN news agency about the preliminary returns of the elections to the local self-government bodies and the results of the exit polls, Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, responded that Cherkasy was among those few regions, where the Party of Regions occupied only the third place, while Sylna Ukraina party failed to be represented in the city council at all. Thus, the exit polls claim that Batkivshchyna party occupied the first place 21,36%, the Party of Free Democrats - 18,5%, the Party of Regions - 18,46%, the Front of Changes - 4,22%, and the Communist Party of Ukraine - 4,54%.
The Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine explained this fact by two reasons. Firstly, it is a responce of Cherkasy to the social-economic initiatives of M. Azarov´s government, especially the Tax Code.
"Secondly, Cherkasy Regional Administration failed to convince the citizens that their policy aims at the development of city and improvement of life standards, not their personal interests", M. Tomenko admitted.
"The third place of the Party of Regions in Cherkasy means that this power is alien for the local residents", the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada summed up.
