Mykola Tomenko: The Coalition and the Opposition shall look for a Way to co-exist, not to disregard each other
On Sunday, Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, stayed in Ternopil region and commented upon the development of events during the forthcoming parliamentary week. Thus, he stated that both previously announced strategies of the parliamentary activity proved ineffective.
M.Tomenko believes that blocking is an ineffective strategy of the opposition, as "the opposition should be more interested in daily monitoring of the authorities and offering alternative decisions, not declaring its disagreement with the acting authorities." "Ukrainian people should feel the alternatives suggested by the opposition," he stressed.
The Deputy Chairman criticizes the strategy of the coalition that suggested engaging the Security Service of Ukraine and the State Security Department to prevent the opposition from blocking the lectern. "In contradicts the parliamentary culture and Ukrainian democratic tradition," M.Tomenko stressed. "The key goal of the parliament members is to adopt an effective resolution, not to engage the law enforcement officials to protect the authorities from the opposition," he added.
The Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine believes that "the coalition and the opposition shall look for a way to co-exist, not to disregard each other" to make the coming week a week of parliamentary activity.
