The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine passed the Resolution to forward the Bill "On Amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine" (re Regular Elections of the President of Ukraine, People's Deputies of Ukraine, Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic of the Crimea, Regional, District, City, Village and Township Councils, and City, Township and Village Mayors" to the Constitutional Court of Ukraine as to its Compliance with the Clauses 157 and 158 of the Constitution of Ukraine

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine passed the Resolution to forward the bill "On Amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine" (re Regular Elections of the President of Ukraine, People´s Deputies of Ukraine, Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic of the Crimea, Regional, District, City, Village and Township Councils, and City, Township and Village Mayors" to the Constitutional Court of Ukraine as to its compliance with the Clauses 157 and 158 of the Constitution of Ukraine.

 

Pursuant to the Resolution, the bill shall be forwarded to the Constitutional Court for the latter to assess correspondence of the bill to the requirements of clauses 157 and 158 of the Constitution of Ukraine.

 

To observe the constitutional procedure, defined by chapter XIII of the Fundamental Law of Ukraine, the Resolution puts the issue on adoption of the Law "On Amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine" (re Regular Elections of the President of Ukraine, People´s Deputies of Ukraine, Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic of the Crimea, Regional, District, City, Village and Township Councils, and City, Township and Village Mayors) on the agenda of the next regular session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the Sixth Convocation.

 

Pursuant to the Resolution, the Constitutional Court shall recognize the scrutiny of this issue as urgent and pass its conclusions by December 1, 2010.
