The Committee on Industrial and Regulatory Policy and Entrepreneurship recommends the Parliament to adopt the Bill on Amendments to Clause 9 of the Law "On Licensing of certain Types of Economic Activity" (re Fishing Industry in the Foreign Waters)

The bill (Reg. No. 7022) aims at implementation of the Law "On Ratification of Agreement to implement the Provisions of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea of 10 December 1982 concerning conservation and management of the living resources of the high seas", and harmonization of the Ukrainian legislation with the EU laws as to licensing of the economic entities involved in the fishing industry in the foreign waters.  

 

Under the Agreement, Ukraine is obliged to guarantee manageable responsible fishing on conditions of permitted catch fixed on the grounds of reliable data. As a state, Ukraine shall assume responsibility for, control and monitor over the activity of Ukrainian-flag industrial ships in the foreign waters.
