Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, guarantees that the Issue on the Holding of Regular Parliamentary Elections will be settled within a Legal Framework

Asked about the regulation of the situation, as the Central Election Committee can announce the commencement of the election campaign in November, V. Lytvyn responded: "Everything will be alright."

He reminded that the members of the Central Election Committee appealed to the Constitutional Court concerning this situation, so "the Constitutional Court might presently announce its judgement."

V.Lytvyn also stated that on Tuesday, the Parliament put the bill on amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine that sets the periods of regular parliamentary and presidential elections to the agenda, and referred it to the Constitutional Court.

The Chairman of the Parliament emphasised that the periods of the election campaign might be adjusted before the Constitutional Court passed its judgement. "Even if there is no explanation concerning the dates of elections, there are other ways to regulate the terms of election campaign. The amendments to the Constitution may be introduced by 300 votes, coming into effect on signing by the President of Ukraine", he claimed.

V. Lytvyn stressed: "Together with the colleagues, we are working hard to preserve the legal purity." He called not to aggravate this issue as it is not pressing.
