The European Integration Committee recommends that the Parliament ratifies the Agreement between Ukraine and the European Police Office on Strategic Cooperation

Enactment of the Agreement will launch a long-term cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of Ukraine and this organization that administrates and coordinates the activity of national law enforcement services in the European Union.   

 

The European Police Office (Europol) has already concluded the agreements on cooperation with the World Customs Organization (WCO), the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCCDA), the European Central Bank, the European Commission, Eurojust, Interpol.  The agreements on cooperation have been concluded with Bulgaria, Iceland, Canada, Columbia, Norway, Russia, Romania, the USA, Turkey, Switzerland, and Moldova.   

 

The Agreement complies with the national and international legislation; sets the principles and areas of cooperation in the information exchange between the competent bodies of Ukraine and Europol via the national coordinator.   

 

According to the Agreement, Ukraine authorizes the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine to act as a national contact point between Europol and other competent bodies of Ukraine.
