Lviv and Ternopil Regions presented their Nominees for the Action "7 Wonders of Ukraine: Castles, Fortresses, Palaces"

On the weekend, Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, took part in the presentation of the regional nominees of the action "7 Wonders of Ukraine: Castles, Fortresses and Palaces" in Lviv and Ternopil Regions. During the press tour, Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, initiator of the action "7 Wonders of Ukraine: Castles, Fortresses and Palaces",  is visiting castles in Zolochiv, Pidhirtsi and Olesko (towns and villages in Lviv region) and also Vyshnevetski Palace Complex and Castle in Zbarazh town (Ternopil region).

Visiting the objects presented by Lviv region, Mykola Tomenko emphasised that those were not all the monuments the region could be proud of. He reminded that Lviv region was represented by 11 monuments so far. However, he remarked that if Zolochiv, Pidhirtsi and Olesko castles were positioned as a tourist route, it would be successful from the point of view of the infrastructure and their historical value.

Mykola Tomenko declared that " if these three castles are considered as a whole, they form one of the best castles routes, if considered separately - then, there is no doubt that Olesko castle is in the best condition, Zolochiv is some kind of a peculiar discovery and Pidhoretski is the most interesting one." He also suggested that Pidhirtsi castle, which is under reconstruction now, should be promoted, for everyone understands it is worthy investments.

In the result of the first day of visit, M. Tomenko expressed his gratitude to the action partner in Lviv region a prominent Ukrainian museum specialist and art critic, Hero of Ukraine, Honoured specialist, laureate of the State T. Shevchenko Award, director of Lviv Art Gallery of Ukraine Borys Voznytskii and People´s Deputy of Ukraine Stepan Kurpil.

On Sunday, Mykola Tomenko, the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, visited Vyshnevetskii Palace. He emphasised that Ternopil region was the leader by the quantity of castles. "23 nominees represent Ternopil region in action "7 Wonders of Ukraine: Castles, Fortresses and Palaces", he announced. However, the majority of them are ruins rather than castles.

Visiting Zbarazh castle, initiator of the action "7 Wonders of Ukraine: Castles, Fortresses and Palaces" Mykola Tomenko called it the most competitive one, and predicted that the castle had all the chances to enter the final part of the contest. Furthermore, Mykola Tomenko has highly appreciated the ideas of Mykhailo Tsymbaliuk, Ternopil region governor, regarding the Vyshnevetskii palace complex, and expressed gratitude to him for the assistance in the project.
