To the librarians of Ukraine

Please accept my sincere greetings, dear experts in book wisdom and multi-million readership of Ukraine that use librarian services to receive energy, wisdom and life knowledge from the internal source.

Among the important noble professions in a civilized society, the occupation of a librarian has a special place. On a daily basis, they carry out their service and holy mission to preserve and enrich the civilization identity of any nation in the form of books.

Beginning from the famous book collection of Yaroslav Mudryi, Ukrainian library science has not only a great history, but also rich traditions and numerous achievements. This holiday acknowledges deep spiritual roots of our nation, its respect for education, culture and knowledge symbolized by the libraries in the system of public authorities. Social significance of the libraries can not be overestimated, as they have always acted as ardent collectors and guardians of the most precious achievements of human wisdom and spirituality. At present, Ukrainian libraries perform a great and multifaceted work to form a qualitatively new community - a knowledge community, actively implementing modern methods and information technologies and preserving the best traditions of the occupation. Modern libraries have already transformed into the powerful scientific-informational and cultural-educational centers of the Ukrainian State. At present, they are the most reliable guides of the civilization progress.

I am convinced that the libraries will pursuit their important, responsible and noble social mission as the guardians of culture and spiritual progress of the Ukrainian nation. Proficiency of the librarians and bibliographers, their self-sacrificing work will facilitate a full-fledged access of our State to the global leaders in the field of information.

I wish success in your noble work, sound health, happiness and well-being to you and your families.

 Volodymyr LYTVYN
