The Parliaments of Ukraine and Russia are ready to adopt essential Resolutions to support the Agreements reached during the Visit to Ukraine of Volodymyr Putin, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation

Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, and Sergey Mironov, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, made this statement during the meeting on Thursday, in the framework of the official visit of V. Lytvyn to Saint Petersburg. 

The parties highly appreciated the official documents signed in the course of the visit of V. Putin. According to the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, it will strengthen the economic part of the bilateral relations. Speaking on the present level of cooperation between Ukraine and Russia, V. Lytvyn emphasised, "It is justified to talk about the optimistic future and further stability and sustainability of relations between our states." 

V. Lytvyn and S. Mironov discussed the issues concerning further development of the interparliamentary cooperation between the committees, factions and groups of friendship. The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine admitted that even when there was ‘a pause´ in the Ukrainian-Russian relations, an efficient cooperation between the legislative bodies of both states continued.

"The inter-parliamentary cooperation has never stopped", S. Mironov responded. He proved the intention to make a working visit to Ukraine and take part in the 9th Sitting of the Interparliamentray Commission on Cooperation between the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and Federal Council of the Russian Federation in the end of November. 

The Chairman of the Council of Federation and the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine have an intention to publish a common article on the history and perspectives of the Ukrainian and Russian relations in the parliamentary periodicals.

The Parties focused on the potential of the cooperation in CIS framework that had not been fully realized. "Ukrainian-Russian relations should be enhanced via the mutually beneficial projects to foster prosperity of our states", V. Lytvyn declared. 

Furthermore, the possible perspectives of the presidency of Ukraine in OSCE were discussed. According to S. Mironov, the Russian Party is ready to uphold and promote the idea. 

As it was announced, on 27-28 October, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, stays with a working visit in Saint Petersburg (Russian Federation) to participate in the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member Nations. 

Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, participates in the 35th sitting of IPA CIS Council and international interparliamentary conference dedicated to the presidency of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the OSCE.

On Wednesday, V. Lytvyn took part in the meeting of the Chairmen of the Parliaments of Belarus,Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Russia.  

According to the program of the visit, V. Lytvyn meets Ural Mukhamedzhanov, Chairman of the Majilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Sergey Antufiev, Governor of the Smolensk region of the Russian Federation.

The Ukrainian parliamentary delegation consists of the Chairman of the Subcommittee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Fighting Organized Crime and Corruption, Chairman of the Standing Delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in IPA CIS Ivan Vernydubov and Chairman of the Subcommittee of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Foreign Affairs, Deputy Chairman of Standing Delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in IPA CIS Oleksii Lohvynenko.
