Adam Martyniuk, First Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met the delegation of the Kuwait-Ukraine Inter-Parliamentary Group of Friendship headed by Abdullah Yusuf Al-Romi, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the State of Kuwait. Greeting the parliament members of the State of Kuwait, A.Martyniuk underscored that the meeting took place on the eve of the 15th anniversary of establishment of contacts between the respective parliaments.

A.Martyniuk briefed on the political and economic situation in Ukraine. He stated that the model of state structure had been changed in Ukraine. Commenting upon the constitutional amendments, he stressed that restoration of the Constitution in the version of 1996 did not presuppose ‘total re-appointments.´ "These amendments can not be assessed yet, however, they should give impetus to the development of the state tired of political instability and permanent conflicts between the President and the Prime Minister," he declared. According to A.Martyniuk, stability in the country has a positive bearing on the economic sector, although the impact of the global financial crisis on the economy of Ukraine is still appreciable.

The Parties declared mutual interest in the development and intensification of the interparliamentray cooperation and dialogue, strengthening of the relations in trade and economic sectors. It is essential to establish efficient contacts between the government and individuals of both states, and attract investments in Ukrainian economics. A. Martyniuk expects that the visit of the parliamentary delegation of the State of Kuwait would foster bilateral relations. He declared that in the past 7 months of 2010, the total scope of the trade turnover between the states comprised only USD 16 million, which "is not a satisfactory index."

Mr. Abdullah Yusuf Al-Romi emphasised that Kuwait attached great importance to strengthening interparliamentary liaison with Ukraine and development of cooperation in the spheres of public health, education and energy sphere. It also proves true for the trade-economic relations.

The Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly of Kuwait delivered an official invitation from the Chairman of the National Assembly of Kuwait to the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Lytvyn to make a working visit to their country.
