Mykola Tomenko: The Party of Regions refused to implement the Laws and the Constitution in the Territory of Cherkasy Region

Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, sent an appeal to the Prosecutor´s General Office of Ukraine regarding the situation in Chornobaiv district of Cherkasy region during the organization and holding of the regular elections to the local councils on October 31, 2010.

Thus, Chornobaiv regional election commission of Cherkasy region headed by Vasyl Kopytsia, Party of Regions representative, denied registration of candidates for the deputy offices from the Batkivshchyna party on the last registration day (October 8, 2010). This resolution was adopted on the initiative and under the pressure of the Head of the Election Commission V.H. Kopytsia with numerous violations of the effective legislation. On October 11, Cherkasy regional election committee rejected the resolution of Chornobaiv regional election commission, and issued a warning to V. Kopytsia. However, according to M. Tomenko, the candidates from the Batkivshchyna party have not been registered yet.

Mykola Tomenko is convinced that legislation can not be neglected, unless the Party of Regions leaders, esp. Serhii Tulub, Head of the Regional Administration, support it. "It is obvious that the leaders and members of the regional Party of Regions are not willing to follow the Laws of Ukraine and the Constitution", the Deputy Chairman emphasised.
