On Friday, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met Heinz Fischer, Federal President of Austria
The Parties underscored that the countries had common
history. They also
stated that relations between Ukraine
and Austria
were devoid of any conflicts or problems, which paved way for intensification
of bilateral relations.
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine calls for following this pursuit. He believes that Ukraine and Austria can effectively cooperate in energy and transport sectors, and agriculture. Collaboration between the regions may also be fruitful.
The Federal President of Austria stressed that his country supported European integration pursuits of Ukraine. However, he deems necessary to boost anti-corruption action and struggle with red tape to improve the investment climate in Ukraine and foster bilateral cooperation in the economic, financial and banking sectors.
V.Lytvyn assured that Ukrainian authorities exerted every effort to eradicate corruption in Ukraine.
Discussing the European integration prospects
of Ukraine, the Federal
President of Austria called for fostering
good-neighbourliness with Russia,
as stable and predictable relations between Ukraine
and Russia
are construed as an important factor of European stability.
According to the program of visit, V. Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, shall also meet Martin Prayneder, President of the Federal Council of Austria, members of the Austrian-Ukrainian group on inter-parliamentary liaison and the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the National Council of Austria.
