The Committee on Legislative Support of Law Enforcement recommends The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to adopt the Bill on Amendments to the Code of Ukraine of Administrative Infringements regarding Strengthening of Responsibility for certain Infringements (regarding supplementing Penalty with the Punishment in the Form of Social Works)

Viktor Shvets, Chairman of the Committee, reminded that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the bill (Reg. No.6634) as a basis on October 5, 2010. The bill introduces such a type of administrative punishment as community service. Under the court resolution, the infringer shall do community service for forty-sixty hours; thirty-forty hours; forty-sixty hours, etc. The bill supplements clauses 173, 173-2, 178 and 185 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Infringements.

The Committee suggested considering amendments to clause 173-2 to introduce public works for the period from 30 to 40 hours, and for the period from 40 to 60 hours for family violence, non-implementation of protection notice or non-fulfillment of the intervention program.

The bill also envisages community service for drinking up alcohol and appearance in the state of alcoholic intoxication in public places; gross misconduct to the police officers, members of the public order organization and state border agency, and military officers.
