Mykola Tomenko: The Strength of a State is measured by Love for the Country, not Hatred for its Enemies
On Friday, September 17, Mykola Tomenko, the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, visited Kirovohrad town and took part in the opening of the monument to the Ukrainian writer, public and political figure, first leader of the Ukrainian Government, Volodymyr Vynnychenko.
Delivering a speech, M. Tomenko declared that finally it became possible to open the monument to Volodymyr Vynnychenko "not on his birthday, celebrated in July, but on the day of Kirovohrad town. The most important fact is that it was done in the year of his 130th anniversary." The Deputy Chairman also expressed his contentment with the fact that his Fund assisted in the construction of the monument to the prominent Ukrainian public figure.
"It is difficult to imagine Ukraine of the beginning of XX century without Vynnychenko the public figure, Vynnychenko the politician and Vynnychenko the writer", the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine emphasised. He stated that there had been a discussion of the significance of Volodymyr Vynnychenko as a public figure, who co-authored all four Universals of the Tsentralna Rada that proclaimed Ukrainian People´s Republic.
"Today the division into ‘right and ‘wrong´ figures should be stopped", M. Tomenko stressed. "Ukraine is all those people who live and work for its flourishing, both in Ukraine and beyond its borders", he added.
The Deputy Chairman of the Parliament greeted the citizens of Kirovohrad with the construction of the first monument to V. Vynnychenko in his native town and expressed his hopes that the Ukrainian values would occupy a deserved place in his state, so that there would be no need to quote Volodymyr Vynnychenko: "Our absurd nation as strong as said It used to have its heroes, but no one knows themIt has always been a freedom lover in slaver´s cageFind out treasure of a song, but failed remember words"
