Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, believes that the demands for bringing forward the issue on dismissal of Anatolii Hrytsenko from the office of the Chairman of the Committee on the National Security and Defence are unjustified.

At the Friday´s press conference in Kharkiv, V.Lytvyn was asked about the initiative of People´s Deputy Ihor Savchenko. He stated that this was not the first time such a statement had been made.

The Head of the Parliament stated that four People´s Deputies who are not the members of this Committee had addressed him with similar requests. "However, I have also received an appeal of Serhii Hrynevetskyi, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee, who refutes these claims," he admitted.

Thus, V.Lytvyn believes that the complaints about A.Hrytsenko "are nothing but a political assessment of his activity as the Committee Chairman." He stressed that A.Hrytsenko "chairs the Committee, whose work offers no reasons for complaints." V.Lytvyn stated that the Chairman of the Committee on the National Security and Defence "always represents the standpoint of the entire Committee, while many others present their personal views, pretending that they are shared by other members, which provokes conflicts."

V.Lytvyn reminded that only the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, members of the Committee and the deputy chairing the Committee are authorized to initiate the dismissal of the Committee Chairman.
