The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the Law "On Amendments to the Criminal Code of Ukraine regarding Enhancement of Responsibility for Improper Performance of Obligations related to Children Healthcare, and Abuse of Trustee Rights"

Pursuant to the Law, part 1 of Clause 137 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine "Improper Performance of Obligations related to Children Healthcare, and Abuse of Trustee Rights" strengthens responsibility for the committed crime, envisaging confinement for up to four years or imprisonment for the period of five years. Part 2 is in a new version: "The same actions of improper performance of the obligations that caused death of minor or other severe consequences are punished by freedom restriction for the period from 3 to 5 years or deprivation of freedom for the same term with the deprivation of right to occupy certain offices or conduct certain type of activity for the term from 3 year or without such."

 

Clause 167 "On Guardian Rights Abuse" also strengthens responsibility for the "abuse of custody to the detriment of a child in ward (occupation of the living area, property use, etc.)", envisaging confinement for up to three years or imprisonment for the period of three years with the deprivation of the right to occupy certain offices.
