Mykola Tomenko: The next Stage of Action "7 Wonders of UKraine" may be a Contest for the Ukrainian Parks

In the course of the press tour in Lviv region, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Mykola Tomenko was asked about the next stages of the action "7 Wonders of Ukraine". He announced that the next stage of the action "7 Wonders of Ukraine" might be a contest for the Ukrainian parks. 

"7 Wonders of Ukraine" project is a strategy to form the image of Ukraine as a tourist state and a wonder land. It means that after the completion of the third tour of the action in 2011 (7 Wonders of Ukraine: Castles, Fortresses and Palaces), we may start another stage of presenting the unique palaces in Ukraine", M. Tomenko announced. 

According to him, there is a discussion as to which objects shall participate in the next contest, although "it is highly probable that it will be parks." "In 2011 we will run the inventory and exhibit all the parks in Ukraine", M. Tomenko declared. 

The action "7 Wonders of Ukraine: Castles, Fortresses and Palaces" started in March 2010. Its aim is compilation of the map of castles and fortresses of Ukraine and analysis of the modern state of monuments, strengthening of their cultural and historical significance and their involvement into the hotel and tourism infrastructure. In the result of the action, the finalists will be selected: 7 wonderful fortresses and palaces of Ukraine and 7 fortresses and palaces in danger of destruction and disappearance. The action includes several stages. Currently, 137 objects take part in the action "7 Wonders of Ukraine: Castles, Fortresses and Palaces." Khmelnytsk, Rivne, Volyn, Chernihiv regions and Kyiv city have already presented their nominees.
