Responding to the appeals of the teachers and parents of the capital regarding the mass placement of small architectural forms (tents, pavilions, stands) with alcohol beverages, tobacco goods, beer near schools, gymnasiums and lyceums in Kyiv, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Mykola Tomenko addressed the Consumer Protection Department of Kyiv. He received a respond that in July-August 2010, the experts of the Department monitored retail sales outlets situated within 100 meters from comprehensive education establishments in Kyiv. Thus, according to the information supplied to the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the total number of such small architectural forms comprises 572.

M. Tomenko emphasised that the sale of alcoholic beverages and tobacco goods near the education establishments is illegal and contradicts the legislation, as the state policy restricts negative damage of alcohol beverages and tobacco goods consumption.

M. Tomenko announced that in the result of the monitoring of the small architectural forms in Kyiv, he addressed the First Deputy Head of Kyiv City State Administration Oleksandr Popov with the proposal to adopt the decision on prohibition and restriction of placement of alcoholic beverages, beer and tobacco goods trading objects near the education establishments in Kyiv.
