Mykola Tomenko: The Authorities should guarantee Quality and High Life Expectancy rather than ‘eliminate disagreeable Mayors´

Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, made this statement during his visit to Khmelnytskyi city on Saturday. He expressed his opinion as to the cooperation between the local self-government and newly-elected authorities.

Mykola Tomenko stated: "If the idea of improving the standards of life and life expectancy underlies the cooperation, the results will be feasible. However, if the authorities use their capacities to ‘eliminate´ mayors by institution of criminal proceedings, provocation of conflicts, prevention of participation in the election campaign or compulsion to join the Party of Regions, then the work will be inefficient."

The Deputy Chairman singled out the pursuits of Serhii Melnyk, Khmelnytskyi mayor, and Ivan Hladuniak, Head of Khmelnytskyi Regional Council, who were working for the public benefit. Thus, numerous schools, hospitals and sports facilities have been reconstructed.

Mykola Tomenko, Deputy Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Serhii Melnyk, Khmelnytskyi mayor, and Ivan Hladuniak, Head of Khmelnytskyi Regional Council, took part in the opening of a municipal antituberculous dispensary. M.Tomenko presented the dispensary with medical and sports equipment.
